How To Convert RAR To ZIP
RAR is a proprietary archive file format that supports data compression, error recovery, and file spanning. RAR is a popular format for archiving multiple large files. It will bear the filename extension .rar. However, there is no native support for RAR on most operating systems, so if you are trying to send an archive file, it is preferable to send in the more common ZIP format.
Converting RAR to ZIP is easiest when done with 7-Zip, a free open-source program that is widely recognized as being the best option to open nearly any archived or compressed file. It is one of the few options that can both open and extract RAR files and also write to a ZIP format.
Download and install 7-Zip.
Once 7-Zip is installed, open the program for use.
Using the 7-Zip interface, select the RAR file that you want to convert.
Click Extract to remove the files from the RAR archive. The default settings will create the extracted file in the same folder as the RAR.
Click on the newly created folder, and click Add.
When the "Add to Archive" dialogue box pops up, select Zip from the drop-down.
Click OK. This will create the ZIP archive in the same folder. Now you can email or upload the same data in a more commonly supported archive format.
